by Jeremy_Brown @ 25th January 2010
As it says in the title next weeks race at Lytham has been cancelled as the Council wont let the club run the race.

Track Update - no session again this Week 23rd January
by iancrt @ 21st January 2010
Well the snow has melted, and while the track is very wet most of it has drained fairly well.
Except for the last straight - which is flooded as is the area between the track and the container. Parking on the field is out of the question.
This, along with a few club officials unable to attend, has meant we have decided to cancel again this week and let the area recover.

This is now the longest we have gone without running a session, but we fully intend to be back on January 30th. Weather permitting there may be a bit of track work needed so fetch your work boots!

Weather beaten us again
by iancrt @ 14th January 2010
session cancelled again this week. Fingers crossed things improve for next week.

Race Cancelled 09/01/2010
by iancrt @ 05th January 2010
Hi Everyone. We hope you all had a good Xmas and New Year.
As I am sure you are aware the weather is not so good for BMX at the moment. We have been monitoring the weather closely but its pretty much the same for the next week - cold, snow and ice. With no chance of the track melting by saturday unfortunatly we are going to have to cancel training and the race this week.

Hopefully things will improve next week.

Greens Streets Project 2010 Meeting
by Jeremy_Brown @ 30th November 2009
The meeting will be at St Francis Primary school,Myers Lane,Bradford,BD2 4ES on Thursday 3rd December from 7pm.

There will be a presentation on the project plus a chance to ask questions.

Everyone who is interested in supporting this project needs to complete the British Gas online energy survey at:-

https://www.britishgas.co.uk/ESR2/EnergyEfficiency/

and pass a copy of the survey to either Ian or myself by the 10th December.

It would be useful if people could do this before the meeting on Thursday in case there are any problems.

If you want to be involved but can't make the meeting please complete the survey and pass it on to Ian or myself.

We need people to get involved or we will loose this funding

Billy Fieldhouse at the Grands
by Jeremy_Brown @ 30th November 2009
Club President Billy Fieldhouse has been away this weekend racing at the ABA Grands in Tulsa USA.

Having been out for most of the season with a shoulder injury requiring 2 operations Billy was still determined to make the gate in Tulsa.

Racing in the 56 and over catergory he took the win in the Race of Champions on Friday and followed this remarkable performance up by taking the win again in the Grands on the Sunday.

Outside the World Championships this is one of the biggest races in the BMX Calendar taking place every year over the big American Thanksgiving holiday.

It will be back to reality on Saturday fo Billy when he will be back on the gate at Peel Park taking part in the Club's last race of 2009.

Green Streets 2010
by iancrt @ 18th November 2009
Over the last few weeks (months) you have heard Jeremy and I talking about the wind turbine plan, and more recently the British Gas Green Streets Project.
The aim of this project is for us, as a community, to reduce our consumption of Electricity and Gas in our homes. British Gas will help us do this, and in return for providing them with data they will be installing a wind turbine for the club.
This is also part of a national competition against 13 other communities - with the community that saves and generates the most energy winning a further £100,000.

We want as many club members involved as possible.

A meeting is scheduled for the 1st of December where we will explain the project in much more detail.
It would be helpful but not essential if you could:-
Provide billing history for the last 12-18 months.
Complete the British Gas online energy survey at https://www.britishgas.co.uk/ESR2/EnergyEfficiency/
and bring this information along to the meeting
If you are not sure about organising either of the above just get in touch or talk to us at the meeting.

As part of the project, some of you will also get a Domestic Energy Assessment (DEA) and possibly a renewable energy generation feasibility study done on your homes.
The results of all the above will be used to suggest suitable energy saving and Micro-generation solutions for your homes.
The solutions that give our community the best opportunity of winning the overall competition will then be implemented in the relevant homes by British Gas. These will range from you turning off appliances (including the supply of equipment that can automate this) to installing Micro-generation technologies such as solar panels.

The project runs until February 2011, and during this time you will be required to provide information to British Gas and attend regular meetings where we will discuss our experiences - some of which may involve British Gas and a Government backed think-tank (IPPR)
While obviously this project is about the environment, our aim in getting involved is for all of us to save money on our bills.
As Project Leaders Jeremy and I will help all participants as much as we can.
We hope you all find the project as interesting as we have so far and are willing to help us in the Club's bid to win the overall prize.
We will confirm the time and place of the meeting in the next few days.

If you are interested in getting involved please drop us an email - mailto:ian.thewlis@bradfordbmxbandits.org.uk - even if you won’t be able to make the meeting on the 1st December.

More troubles
by iancrt @ 21st October 2009
well the container has been broken into now. They didnt get anthing but did a lot of damage. we have emptied the unit for now - not that there is anthing of great re-sale value in there anyway.
So as a club we are pretty much at a standstill at the moment. We are working hard to get to all sorted out though so shouldn't be too long.

Mondays Updates
by iancrt @ 19th October 2009
Those of you that were at the race on saturday will know already it was a great event. Unfortunatly a few nasty falls but everyone is OK. Its nice to know you all like to keep me busy when I'm wearing my First Aid Hat.
You may also be aware that the floodlights have been vandalised, with all the control box ripped out and wires cut at ground level. We have arranged for a quote to repair this from the lighting installers. However simply repairing it will not stop it happening again so we are looking at security as well so it may be a number of weeks before we get the lights back.
Some good news, we have been given the funding by West Yorkshire Criminal Justice Board for a wind turbine. Obviously the British Gas Green Street project now makes this unnecessary but we are discussing with them alternative uses for the money that meet the original critieria.
Finally, as an update - the next race date is 31st October 2009, not 1st of November as we have been advertising. No excuses for this other than we are simply daft! As 31st October is Halloween perhaps a fancy dress race is in order? I'll see what I can organise for a best costume prize.
Keep checking back for updates

Updates
by iancrt @ 16th October 2009
race tomorrow, registration from 11am. this is the race we were forced to cancel two weeks ago. Still for charity so remember to wear pink (or Mrs Brown will force you into something pink and you just know it will be embaressing!
For those that were down on Tuesday and saw the floodlights melt - latest news is the lighting company should be out and sorting the problems in the next few days.
Due to previous commitments by the club officials, there will be no evening track session next week - next track time will be Saturday 24th October @ 10am. One of these commitments is a meeting with British Gas so we should be able to update you on the Community Project plans at the end of next week.
